The history of Securian Advisors MidAmerica, Inc. began over 25 years ago through several mergers and acquired offices sharing similar cultures and importantly the desire to make a difference in their respective communities.

FinanciaLife Resource Group was founded in 1986 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and subsequently acquiring respected firms in Burlington, Lake Mills, Davenport and Mason City, Iowa.

Southwest Financial started in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1985, augmenting the firm’s growth with the addition of new and experienced trusted advisors.

The two firms merged in 2002 forming Securian Advisors MidAmerica, Inc. (SAMA). Managing partners Brian Zimmerman (Iowa) and Joe Wilburn (Oklahoma) each have more 30 years experience in the financial services industry and oversee the day to day operations of the combined entities. SAMA continues to actively grow with the selective addition of new advisors and client referrals.

SAMA’s strategic mission is to guide and direct individuals, families and businesses towards the successful achievement of clearly defined financial goals.
